A keel laying ceremony has been performed at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding’s Vlissingen shipyard in the Netherlands for a SIGMA 10514 frigate ordered for the Mexican Navy.
Secretary of the Mexican Navy Admiral Vidal Francisco Soberón Sanz took part in a symbolic coin ceremony as part of the 17 August event.
A contract for a single SIGMA 10514 vessel – officially termed as a ‘Long Range Patrol Vessel’ – was signed earlier in 2017 as part of the Mexican Navy fleet modernisation plan.a
